I shaped these pretty knots with an easy technique which could be used also for some other bread recipes. They really look like bought ones from a store. People won't believe you made them! :)
Here are the ingredients and preparation:
200g water
5g sugar
400g flour
5g salt
80g Cheddar
10 basil leaves
25g fresh yeast
50g olive oil (+ a little more to brush with)
- Warm water for 2 minutes at 37°C on Speed 1, set aside.
- Wipe TM Bowl. Sift in flour, add sugar, salt, cheese and basil leaves. Chop cheese into the flour by hitting Turbo several times.
- Add yeast, water and oil. Mix for 10-20 seconds until the dough has formed into a ball. (If your dough is too dry add a liitle more water, this might happen with organic flours)
- Divide dough into 8 pieces. Roll each into a log shape. Knot and shape them as in the picture.
- Place them in baking tray which is previously covered with baking paper.
- Brush them with a little oil, cover with a clean tea towel and let them rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Bake for approx. 15 minutes in preheated oven at 220°C.
